Due to the particular structure of this natural material rich in microscopic cavities, soapstone casseroles have a natural ability to maintain and conserve heat.
Therefore, although they take a long time to heat up, once they reach the desired temperature, they are able to maintain it for a long time.
Since soapstone is a "fragile" material, however, particular care must be taken:

• when first used, it should be washed with salted water and carefully dried after which it should be greased with fat - vegetable oil or lard on both sides and left to rest for at least 24 hours;
• when cooking, always heat it slowly and evenly to avoid cracks and surface cracks
• for use on gas hobs, it is necessary to use a flame spreading net placed between the fire and the stone, in order to make the heat distribution uniform on the surface of the same
• it is an extremely fragile material, therefore violent shocks and blows must be avoided: it fears thermal shocks, sudden changes in heat (for example, do not place the containers on cold surfaces after having removed them from the flame)
